Tonight, I had a request for a dish that was good enough for a special occasion and healthy. I immediately thought of my brother’s Crab Stuffed Tilapia recipe. This recipe was included in our second cook book, Inspirations.
Although it sounds complicated, the recipe is actually quite simple! I was completely amazed the first time I made it. If you like carb recipes, try this Hot Crab Dip.
Crab Stuffed Talapia
Compliments of It’s a Keeper
www.itisakeeper.com
Filling
½ cup lump crab meat
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1 clove garlic, minced
½ cup pepper-jack cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Pinch dill
Salt and pepper to taste
Fish
4 talapia (can substitute flounder) fillets, thawed
1 tablespoon butter, melted
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon dill
salt and pepper to taste
Mix together all filling ingredients. Cut a slit into the center of fish, making a pocket for the filling. Fill each pocket with 1/4 of the filling. Brush fish with melted butter. Sprinkle paprika, salt, pepper and dill on top of fish. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Fish will flake apart when done. Serve with a lemon wedge.
Is it a keeper?
We love this recipe (and we are not fish lovers)! It’s well seasoned and full of flavor. Plus, it’s so simple to make! Serve it with a side salad or some brown rice and you have a very healthy meal! Hats off to my brother for coming up with gem! Great job, Dan!
I’m not sure I can find this fish in my parts, flounder would be easier. This recipe sounds delicious, I usually do my fish stuffings with tiny prawns but crab meat would be a tasteful change! Yvette x
We love Talapia and crab, both of them together…oh my! Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. We will definitely be making this! As always, thanks for linking up to Inspiration Friday At The Picket Fence!

We too eat alot of tilapia. This is one I’m going to have to try the next time I see fresh tilapia at the market. Following from It’s a Blog Party.
