Ingredients

  • 4 inch yellow onions, sliced 1/4 thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Melt butter and onions in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Stir in brown sugar and salt; add onions and stir for 5 minutes.
  • Turn heat down to medium-low and cook onions for 40 minutes.

    There are no shortcuts to caramelized onions. I tried this recipe for a pizza topping & it was mushy & tasted awful.

    • I have made this recipe a lot. The video is very helpful, the directions have to be followed exactly. It really does work! I promise.
