  • Tart Lemonade: You can use lemonade for the perfect pairing for this drink. Iced tea or grapefruit juice or orange juice with a glass with ice is perfect.

  • Vanilla Extract: will add a sweeter taste to the drink.

Expert Tips for Making This Moonshine Recipe or any Moonshine such as Apple Pie Moonshine

A mojito is a well-balanced drink that’s not too sweet or sour. The mint and lime give it a lovely freshness, perfect for a hot day. The rum adds a touch of warmth, but a good mojito shouldn’t be overwhelmingly boozy.

  • Add Mixers: If you’re feeling like a mixer, try pepsi, ginger ale, Sprite, or club soda can be added. Decorate with fresh mint and a slice of fresh lime. Pour over ice. Apple Juice or apple cider can be added with a cinnamon stick for a fall flavor. Or try the apple pie moonshine recipe for your fall party.
  • Short cut tip: Lime juice can be used from a bottle if fresh lime is not available. Use in equal parts.
  • Variation tip: Feel free to add as fresh berries or watermelon to give a refreshing flavor, for example, strawberry or raspberries to the mixed moonshine if you have a sweet tooth. Or mix with a light ale.
  • Dietary consideration tip: Sugar can be adjusted for your personal tasting preference. more or less can be added for that perfect mojito.

I put in Fridge for the first 3 days to get everything married together, but once I jar it up, I put mine in the basement where its cool (50’s) and dark. During the winter when I make it I throw it right out on my deck in the snow in the post with lids on. I’ve actually left it out there for almost 2 weeks before I jarred it up. Even under freezing temperatures it never froze. I think when I do it that way it tastes so much better, not sure why.

  1. I love these Moonshine recipes, but I don’t know how to serve them? I would like to make some up for Christmas gifts and put tags on jars telling how to serve. Example: Is Pumpkin served warm? The cranberry warm? Is the Mojito served over ice straight or mixed with soda, etc? Thank you for your reply.

    • I usually enjoy them straight out of the jar but you can easily mix them to make other cocktails. You can serve them warm, just remember that some of the alcohol may evaporate out.

I usually do straight out of the jar as well. When I bring jars to a party or gathering I will generally bring small plastic shot glasses and just pass them out with the jars. They never last long

  2. This sounds so good and I’d love to make it but I’m confused about one of the ingredients. Is “2 oz containers of limeade 59” correct? Do you mean 2 ozs from a limeade container?

The recipe is not very clear on the limeade portion. Can you give me that measurement please? (Just finished making a 24-quart batch of strawberry lemonade shine – bring on summer!)
