School Cafeteria Upgrade Must Haves

With school budget cuts always in the news, it is no wonder that school cafeterias often need to do a lot, with a little. Feeding a school full of kids safe and healthy meals, can be quite an undertaking with limited school budgets. Luckily, there are quite a few ways school cafeterias can upgrade their service and equipment without breaking the budget. Below are a few examples of necessities for every school cafeteria, which can all be found at restaurant supply companies like Culinary Depot.

Heated display cases can be an easy way to prevent food waste. By keeping warm foods within a heated display case, warms food items can last longer and decrease the amount of food that is thrown away at the end of each seating. Additionally, cafeteria workers and administrators should regularly test the temperature of their current units to ensure proper food temperatures!

Similar to the heated display cases, cold food stations are essential for any school cafeteria. These allow kitchen workers to quickly serve food, while ensuring proper temperatures.

Schools are full of children, and can be a great place for germs and viruses to spread. While hand sanitizers can prevent most germ transfers, sneeze guards over your food displays are an absolute must in any school cafeteria to prevent the transfer of air born contagions.

For high schools, implementing a salad bar can be a great way to ensure students are getting their fruits and vegetables! A short or long salad station can go a long way to ensure that even more picky eaters are getting proper nutrition from the cafeteria.

With just a few quick upgrades, a school cafeteria can be healthier for the students, and more convenient for the cafeteria kitchen workers. These items are convenient, and foolproof ways to ensure proper safety precautions are being taken.
