OREO Cookie Balls are one of my family’s favorite holiday treats! Every year, I have to make several batches of these goodies to keep my guys happy.
It’s no problem though. The recipe couldn’t be simpler with just 3 easy ingredients. And, anything that uses OREOs is a keeper in my book!
The easiest way to make OREO Cookie Balls is to break out the food processor. Just place 36 cookies in the bowl and pulse until they are finely crushed.
Honestly, I could eat the crushed OREOs by the spoonful, but I was able to control my impulse. It was tough, though, let me tell you.
Next, I add the cream cheese. I break it up into chunks and place it right in the food processor with the crumbs.
Give a couple more twirls in the ‘ol food processor and viola! You have the base of OREO Cookie Balls!
Now you need to form them into balls. I use a cookie scoop to ensure that all of mine are the same size. Then I set them on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Here’s where I mix things up a bit. I zap some peanut butter in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it.
Then I send each of the cookie balls in to the peanut butter for a dip! Make sure each one is good and coated.
By the way, peanut butter + OREOs = heaven. Just sayin’.
Once everyone has a nice layer of peanut butter, place them in the fridge for a 15 minutes to let the peanut butter harden a bit.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate over a double boiler (or in the microwave).
Then, dip each cookie ball into the molten chocolate. I use the fork method. Simply place the cookie ball on a fork. Dip it in the chocolate, ensuring that it’s full coated. Rap the fork on the side of the bowl allowing any extra chocolate to drip off.
Place the heavenly orb back on the parchment lined baking sheet.
The final step is place the remaining softened peanut butter in a zipper bag, snip off one corner to make a piping bag and drizzle peanut butter over the top of each ball.
Pure yumminess, I tell you.
Now comes the hard part…exercising restraint to not eat the whole lot of them.
