To help you stay prepared for this time of the year, I’ve put together a list of ways to prepare for cold and flu season.

5 Ways to Prepare for Cold and Flu Season - It Is a Keeper

I love all of the seasons in lovely northeastern PA…even winter.   I love the way snow slows the world down a bit.

However, the falling flakes also signal the start of  cold and flu season.  That dreaded time of the year when our lives come to a screeching halt due to stuffed noses, hacking coughs and aches and pains.

Unfortunately, there’s no cure for a cold or the flu.  You can only manage the symptoms.  The best bet, however, is to take as many precautions as you can to avoid sickness.  Help keep your family healthy this year by following some basic steps.

To help you stay prepared for this dreaded time of the year, I’ve put together a list of ways to prepare for cold and flu season.

5 Ways to Prepare for Cold & Flu Season

5 ways to prepare for cold and flu season - it is a keeper

1.  Take precautions

One of the easiest things you can do to keep your family healthy is regularly washing your hands.  And, for those times when you can’t, use hand sanitizer.

2.  Keep surfaces clean

Help stop the spread of germs by making sure your household surfaces are clean and disinfected regularly.  This includes counters, sinks and toilets.  And, don’t forget to disinfect other common areas like door knobs, remote controls, toys and phones.  I use disinfecting cleaners and sprays as well as rubbing alcohol to wipe down surfaces in my house.

3.  Avoid sharing

Keep from spreading germs by not sharing.  Make sure everyone is using their own cup, utensils and towels.  I also like to keep toothbrushes separated and use disposable cups in the bathroom.

4.  Consider getting a flu shot

I know that vaccines are a polarizing topic today, but consider getting a flu shot to protect your family from some of the worst strands of the flu.  I make sure my family is vaccinated every year.

5.  Keep supplies on hand

Don’t wait until you’re plagued with sickness to track to the store.  Stock up on essentials when you’re healthy.  Keep a stash of sports drinks (for dehydration), cold medicine, vitamin C and tissues on hand.

I love these Puffs Plus Lotion.  They keep the sensitive skin around your nose feeling good, even when you’re not.

Puffs tissues is on a mission to help people look and feel their best this cold and flu season with just the right amount of softness to soothe irritation caused by sniffles, coughing and sneezing – helping them tackle all that their face has to face.

According to the CDC, this is one of the toughest flu seasons in recent memory. In fact, Philadelphia is on high alert for an outbreak of the flu. Puffs Plus Lotion is committed to helping northeastern Pennsylvania residents put their best face forward with just the right amount of softness to provide comfort for the worst cold and flu symptoms.

Puffs Plus Lotion is Philadelphia and northeastern PA’s favorite lotion tissue! With just the right amount of softness, Puffs Plus Lotion will help you put your best face forward this cold and flu season.

Winter (especially bitter cold temperatures in Philly and all of northeastern PA) is hard on your face, and that’s why Puffs Plus Lotion is soft. Puffs is the only national brand that is dermatologist tested to be gentle on skin.

And, if you do come down with a cold or the flu, limit who you hang around with.  Stay home from work or school and take special care to stay away from those with weaker immune systems – such as the elderly or those with severe illnesses.

What is your best tip for avoiding a cold or the flu?  Leave a comment and let me know.

I participated in the Pass The Puffs blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.
