You may be stressed and you don’t even know it. It’s true. Many of us suffer from the symptoms of stress while we don’t feel like we’re stressed.
It’s true. You may not be worried, overly busy or under pressure (things that typically make us stressed), but you can still be suffering from stress. Stress that’s left unchecked can lead to health problems down the road, such as heart disease, high blood pressure and more.
Symptoms of stress can affect your behavior, your and your mind. Being aware of common stress symptoms can help you manage them. Common symptoms of stress are:
- Headache
- Chest pain
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Sleeplessness
- Upset stomach
- Irritability
- Lack of motivation
Stress doesn’t have to be all negative. Many positive situations can stress us out too – such as hosting an event, sending your children off to school or interviewing for a job.
About a month ago, my husband had to testify in court for work. It was a high profile case and his testimony was critical. He was under a lot of stress and experienced many stress symptoms. This situation was a mix of bad stress (nervousness) and good stress (trying to do your best at work).
Whether your stress is good or bad, keeping it in check is important to your overall health and well being. To help you manage stress, here are the top 5 ways to relieve stress.
Top 5 Ways to Relieve Stress
1. Take a walk
Taking a short walk (even if it’s just around the yard or office) is a great stress reliever. As a bonus, it boosts endorphins, the feel-good chemicals in your brain.
2. Eat mood boosting foods
Foods that are high in carbohydrates often make us feel better. Some studies have shown that carbohydrates helps boost serotonin levels, which make us feel content and relaxed. But, be careful not to over do it. The 100 calorie packs of your favorite treats are a great way to control your portions.
3. Take a bath
Heat relaxes muscles and relieves tension. A soothing hot bath (or shower) can clear your mind and reduce stress.
4. Listen to music
Listening to soothing music can help with stress. While upbeat songs can make you feel good, slow tempos will calm your mind and may even lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
5. Try a natural remedy
Sometimes, it’s hard to de-stress without help. Rather than turning to medications, which can have side effects or cause dependency, try a natural remedy. RESCUE brand products are all-natural remedies that provide gently, non-habit forming stress relief. RESCUE products are a blend of five flowers that help you remain calm and in control. They come in RESCUE Pastilles, RESCUE Sleep Liquid Melts, RESCUE Pearls and more. And, they can be purchased over-the-counter at CVS, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Sprouts or anywhere find natural products.

I didn’t realize how stressed I was until I had a stroke, at 45 years old. Stress can be a killer. The stress activated an Auto-Immune disease in my body, APS. I wish I would have had your tips, now I take a long hot bath every night, remove myself from stress, handle things before they become too big, and breathe. Thanks!
