This Apples Cinnamon Oatmeal is all about personation. One of the perks of making your own oatmeal is you can control what goes in.  For the recipe, I used my standard oatmeal recipe and amped it up with fresh apple cider from our local cider mill.

What We Love About This Apple Oatmeal Recipe

Chopped cinnamon apples for texture, then add chopped pecans. The result is a creamy oatmeal laced with warm apples and the sweet, fresh apple cider flavor.  It’s one of my favorite things to wake up to. Oatmeal is full of fiber helps lower cholesterol and full of vitamins and gluten-free.

Ingredient Notes

  • Apple: Peeled, cored and diced. Any sweet apples will do, such as honey crisp or gala apples or a tart apple such as Granny Smith apples.
  • Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice.
  • Brown sugar: A sugar free replacement can also be a great ingredient in this recipe.
  • Whole milk: Oat milk or almond milk are also great options.
  • Apple Cider: Take a trip to your local cider mill.
  • Old Fashioned Oats: Not quick oats.
  •  Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend: This adds all the spicy goodness of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

How to Make Apples Cinnamon Oatmeal

These are the basic steps for making oatmeal with apples. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions and nutrition information.

STEP 1: APPLE

First, peel, core and slice apples and then place them in a bowl with lemon juice and brown sugar. Microwave on high for four minutes until tender.

STEP 2: OATMEAL

Meanwhile, add cider and milk to a large saucepan on medium-high heat and then stir in the oats and salt. Cook until five or six minutes. Remove from heat, stir in Pumpkin Pie Spices blend and warm apple mixture. Serve immediately.

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups apple cider
  • 1 ½ cups old fashioned oats
  • Pinch salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

Instructions

  • In the meantime, add cider and milk to a large saucepan on medium-high heat.
