It is not really fair to describe this as a man favorite meal because I love it myself.  But to say I don’t get brownie points from my husband when I make this dish for dinner would be an untruth. The tangy gravy and the ease of how this recipe comes together so quickly will make this a family favorite.

Why this Skillet Recipe Works

Honestly, this recipe couldn’t be simpler. I got it started, then turned the stove off and went to soccer practice. When I got home, I simply picked up where I left off. So easy.

Try serving it with Easy Parmesan Orzo and steamed broccoli and it was a huge hit. Even the leftovers were super tasty! It’s now be a permanent staple on my weeknight dinner rotation!

How Do You Know When Your Skillet Pork Chops with Beer are Done?

To make this Skillet Pork Chops quick I use a thin cut of Pork Chops. But I am always worried about knowing when my pork is done.  No one likes undercooked pork but tough pork is the worst. Therefore, I cannot stress enough having a good meat thermometer in your kitchen.

I recommend this meat thermometer. Your pork chop is done when the meat thermometer inserted in the pork reads 140°F (60°C).

How Long to Cook Pork Chops in the Oven?

If you don’t want to cook this Pan Seared Pork Chop on the stove top in a skillet, you can definitely make this dish in the oven.

Pork chops should be baked in an oven heated to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature the meat needs to cook uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes. Let sit for several minutes for the juices to return to meat.

Remember to check the meats temperature with a thermometer to make sure it is the right temperature.

What Type of Beer Should I Use for Making Pan Seared Pork Chops with Beer?

I wouldn’t recommend using a light beer. The darker the better. Yuengling Lager works perfectly — it’s definitely a favorite in our house.

And, if cooking with beer is not your thing, try substituting beef broth or a nice wine.

  1. I’m excited to try this dish out tonight, what sides go well with this? Besides a side salad. I was thinking of possibly some sautéed zucchini and squash but am open to ideas

    • I use a 12 oz bottle of Yuengling Lager beer when I make this. As for finishing it in the slow cooker…I’m not sure. I usually use thin pork chops so the whole recipe only takes me 30 minutes or so from start to finish. If you use thicker pork chops you may be able to use your slow cooker — the thin pork chops that I use would definitely dry out.

I’d love to hear how you make out if you decide to use the slow cooker, though! Good luck! 🙂
