My life has been utterly crazy over the past several weeks.  After returning home from my vacation in early July, my father was rushed to the hospital.

I remember getting the phone call on that Monday night while I was working on my blog.  I rushed out of the house and left everything as it was.  It stayed that way for nearly 2 weeks.

For an entire week, my family and I spent every waking moment in the ICU.  Every moment was spent listening the beeps and noises coming from the various machines.  We only came home to sleep and change clothes.

On Saturday, July 6, my family and I made the very difficult decision to take my father off of life support.  It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.  My whole world stopped that day.  It’s like it’s frozen in time in my mind.  I still can’t believe it happened.

The following two weeks are pretty much a blur. We were all operating on automatic pilot.  All of our normal routines were out the window. We were just doing what we needed to do to get by.  For me, that included barely eating.

I learned one thing during this difficult time.  I am not a stress eater.  I could care less if I ate or not.  I wasn’t hungry.  Food didn’t seem appetizing.  I ate only because everyone else was.

I want to let you all know that that I did not follow the Nutrisystem plan during the first few weeks of July.  I had no way to heat up meals in the ICU.  And, after my father passed away, our generous and thoughtful family and friends brought so much food to us.

This past week I was finally able to get myself back on track with my life and that includes getting back on the Nutrisystem plan.  I have to admit, it feels good to be back to my normal routine.

So, for the sake of this post, I’m counting this week as my seventh week of Nutrisystem. The good news is, during my hiatus, I didn’t not gain back any of the weight I had previously lost.  Which reinforces to me that the Nutrisystem plan is a weight loss option that really works for the long haul and isn’t a temporary fix.

I’m happy to report that this past week went very well!  I love how the Nutrisystem food keeps me full all day long.  I’m down one more pound and looking forward to many more!

Have you ever embarked on a weight loss journey?  Do you have any tips or suggestions to share?
