To get 12 equally sized puff pastry sheets, cut the pastry into rectangles of the same size. In case of store-bought sheets, they are folded. Slice the folded brick in half, unfold it, and then cut along the folds.
Grab a sheet and put a tablespoon of jam in the center, making sure to leave a 1/2 inch border around all edges. Moisten the pastry borders with water using your fingertip. Place a blank pastry sheet on top of the jammed pastry sheet to form a sandwich.
Apply pressure to the edges of the sheets to secure the jam.
If your air fryer has enough space, you can put 2 or more pastries in the basket. Cook them at 350 degrees for 5 minutes and then flip them over cautiously. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Remove and wait until strudels cool down before applying icing.
Prepare the icing by combining powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla while allowing the pastries to cool. After the pastries have cooled down, apply the icing to each pastry.
Notes
Perfect Glaze: To prevent your glaze from being too runny, gradually add the liquid to the powdered sugar until the consistency is thick but still pourable. This will ensure a glaze that will coat the strudels beautifully.
No Jelly: Make sure you are using jam to fill your strudels and not jelly. Jam has a thicker consistency that will not spill out during baking. Jam is also filled with real fruit pieces which adds an extra touch of sweetness.
Add Nuts: Consider adding some chopped nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, to the filling. This will bring a delightful crunch and a hint of nuttiness to your strudels.
