Oatmeal with Blueberries

fresh blueberries

brown sugar

cinnamon

nutmeg

Lemon zest for garnish
Instructions
Add milk and salt to a medium sauce pan.
Bring to a slight boil of medium high heat.
When milk starts to get foamy around the edges, turn heat down to medium and add oats.
Stir continually to prevent boiling over.
Cook until thickened, about 7-8 minutes.
Stir in berries, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Spoon into bowls and top with lemon zest.
Notes
Add Nuts:
Almonds, walnuts or you favorite nut can really enhance the flavor.
Sweetener:
Honey, maple syrup or agave nectar can be used for this baked oatmeal recipes.
Banana:
Blueberry Banana oatmeal is a great alternative to this recipe.
Addition:
Protein can be added in the form of protein powder, chia seeds, flax seeds or greek yogurt for additional nutrients.
Vanilla Extract:
makes for a more cake like breakfast,
