This Blueberry Mojito is zesty and refreshing, combining fresh blueberries with lime, mint, and white rum into the perfect summer cocktail. Enjoy it on a hot day at home, or make a batch for a party.
Add the water, sugar, and frozen blueberries to a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue boiling for 5 to 6 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the mixture into a mixing bowl, pressing the blueberries with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Allow the syrup to cool before using.
Make the Blueberry Mojito
Add the mint leaves, fresh blueberries, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler to gently crush the blueberries and release the oils from the mint.
Add the blueberry simple syrup, white rum, and ice. Secure the shaker and shake well until the drink is chilled.
Strain the mojito into a cocktail glass. Garnish with fresh blueberries, lime wedges or wheels, and additional mint, if desired.
Christina's Notes
No muddler: Use a potato masher or the back of a spoon if you don't have a cocktail muddler.
Shake or stir: Shaking creates a more thoroughly mixed and frothy drink, but stirring is also an option.
Change the fruit: Try cherries or blackberries in place of blueberries.
Make a pitcher: The source recommends combining 1 cup white rum and 1 cup fresh lime juice with ½ cup of the blueberry mixture in a pitcher. The exact meaning of “blueberry mixture” should be clarified before publication.
Use fresh ingredients: Fresh mint, blueberries, and lime juice make a noticeable difference in the finished cocktail.
