Instructions
Peel bananas and cut in half. Push a popsicle stick into each banana half and then place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Freeze for at least 3 hours or do the night before.
Microwave chocolate with shortening in a microwave safe bowl, for thirty seconds on low, stir with a rubber spatula and continue to microwave and stir in 15 second intervals until chocolate is melted and smooth.
Dip banana in chocolate.
Immediately, apply nuts and set on parchment paper to set.
Allow to harden and then serve or refreeze until ready to serve.
Notes
Doubled: Great recipe to make a large batch. Simply increase the ingredients proportionately, make and freeze.
Coconut Oil: If you are not a fan of shortening use coconut oil.
Short cut tip:Candy melting wafers are a quick easy way to cover your banana in chocolate.
Variation tip: Use a different flavored melting wafer, such as peanut butter.
Banana Slices: For little ones or a smaller treat, cut the banana into smaller rounds, omit the sticks and freeze the rounds and follow the rest of the recipe.
Ice Cream: Feel free to freeze the bananas, process in the fool processor to make banana ice cream and then top with chocolate and nuts to make a sundae.
