In a large oven safe pot, heat vegetable oil. When hot, add onion and saute for 3-4 minutes or until softened.
Add beans, molasses, ketchup and brown sugar; Stir to combine.
Add diced bacon pieces on top.
Bake for 1 hour.
Notes
Add tang: Mustard such as dijon, Apple Cider Vinegar, or bbq sauce.
Bacon: Crisp bacon crumbled on top adds even more flavor.
Variation tip: Replace the bacon with spicy sausage.
