Spicy Coleslaw
This Spicy Coleslaw takes regular coleslaw and adds a hint of spice with some sriracha. It's a unique, 2 step dish to bring to a potluck or to have with any meal this summer!
Ingredients
- 5 cups Green cabbage, shredded
- 5 cups Red cabbage, shredded
- 2 cups Carrots, shredded
- ¼ cup Green onions, finely sliced
- 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
- ½ cup Apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup Sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
- 1½ teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- ¼ cup Sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Coarse-grained mustard
- 3 tablespoons Sriracha
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, Sriracha, and mustard, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar and salt.
- Add shredded cabbage, carrots and onion. Mix well and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Christina's Notes
- This Recipe Can be Doubled: Simply increase the ingredients proportionately and split it into two batches.
- Pickled Jalapenos: For some more spice, add jalapenos and juice to make it as spicy as you like.
- Add Seeds: Sunflower seeds add a nice little crunch or even add a little nuts to this creamy sriracha coleslaw.
- Short Cut: Buy prebagged, precut coleslaw mix for this barbecue favorites classic coleslaw.
- Sweeter: A touch of honey or chopped fruit will add a slight sweetness to your sauce for a sweet and spicy flavor.
- Variation: Feel free to add celery salt for a little extra flavor or some fresh ginger to the flavorful spicy dressing.
- Other Add-Ins: To make the sauce unique, try to whisk in other ingredients such as greek yogurt, dijon mustard or a vinaigrette.
