Crock Pot Apple Crisp
Crock Pot Apple Crisp is a comforting fall dessert, made with Granny Smith apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. It's warm and cozy, and will make your whole house smell like fresh apples and cinnamon.
Ingredients
FILLING
- 10 cups Granny Smith Apples, peeled and sliced
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Flour
TOPPING
- 1 cup Oats
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- ½ cup Butter, melted
Instructions
- Spray the crock of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the sliced apples in the crock.
- Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and flour; stir to combine.
- To make the topping, mix all of the ingredients together until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Spread topping on top of apples in an even layer.
- Set slow cooker to low and cook for four hours.
Christina's Notes
- Add Nuts: Crushed pecans or walnuts add a satisfying crunch to the crisp.
- Top: Drizzle a little caramel sauce on top of your apple dessert.
- Kitchen Towel: Place a dish towel by the slow cooker to help soak up the condensation, as the slow cooker could be a fire hazard.
- Cake Mix: Use cake mix to make a dump cake with cinnamon and apples.
- Variation tip: Bake the slow cooker apple crumble in the oven if you wish.
- Fruit: Dried cherries, cranberries or raisins add a nice flavor.
- Apples: While slicing the apples, place in a large bowl with a little lemon juice to keep them from browning.
