Ingredients

Italian salad dressing
Instructions
Add the green beans and cook for 2 minutes, until bright green and just tender.
Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to a large bowl of ice water to stop the cooking.
Drain the beans again and place them in a large bowl.
Add the onion and pour the dressing over the beans.
Stir well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to marinate.

Don't Skip the Ice Bath:
This step locks in the bright green color and crisp-tender texture.
Marinate for at Least an Hour:
Less time means the dressing won't fully soak into the beans.
Drain Well Before Marinating:
Excess water dilutes the dressing and waters down the flavor.
Keep Refrigerated:
Store this salad in the fridge, not at room temperature, for up to a week.
