No ratings yet
Hamburger and Hash Brown Casserole is delicious mix of cheese, hashbrowns and cooked ground beef. It takes just 15 minutes of easy prep and under 10 ingredients, making it the best weeknight dinner.
32ouncesFrozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
10.5ouncesCream of mushroom soup, 1 (10.5 ounce) can
1cupSour cream
½cupMilk
2cupsCheddar cheese, shredded, divided
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, and 1½ teaspoons of the All Purpose Seasoning. Cook, breaking up the meat as it cooks, until the beef is browned and no pink remains. Drain any excess grease.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, thawed hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, the remaining ½ teaspoon All Purpose Seasoning, and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until evenly combined.
Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the hash browns are tender and the casserole is hot and bubbling around the edges.
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole. Return it to the oven and bake for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Christina's Notes
Thaw the hash browns before mixing so the casserole bakes evenly.
Drain the cooked ground beef well to prevent the casserole from becoming greasy.
You can customize this casserole by adding sautéed mushrooms, diced bell peppers, or extra onions.
Assemble the casserole up to 24 hours in advance, cover, and refrigerate until ready to bake. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if starting from cold.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Freeze the baked casserole for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating in the oven until heated through.
