Orange Lime Halibut Fish Tacos

Halibut Fish Tacos are the perfect alternative to heavy fried fish. The tropical flavors infused into the fish offer a fresh vibrant taste, paired with a wonderful jalapeno sour cream.

Equipment

Ingredients
 

  • 1 pound Halibut fillets

Citrus Marinade

  • 1 cup White onion, chopped (small pieces, but not minced)
  • ¼ cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons Orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano

Jalapeño-Lime Sour Cream

  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh jalapeño, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cilantro, minced

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, mix ingredients for the marinade.
  • Place fish fillets in a zip top bag and pour ¾ of the marinade over the fish. Allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In another bowl, combine the ingredients for the jalapeno-lime sour cream. Place in the fridge until ready to serve.
  • Heat grill to medium high, drizzle fish with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • Grill fish for 2-5 minutes per side, then chop into bite-size pieces.
  • Grill or pan-warm tortillas. Lay warmed tortillas out and top with fish. Add sour cream mixture, and top with any other toppings of your choice.

Christina's Notes

  • Extra Flavor: For a little extra flavor, toast the tortillas on the grill or in a skillet with a little olive oil.
  • Tortillas: Corn tortillas can replace the flour tortillas. You can also make a bowl out of rice or cauliflower rice if you are keto.
  • Add Spice: Cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder or hot sauce can all be added.
  • Variation Tip: Different zesty citrus fruits can also be used such as grapefruit.
  • Alternate Cooking Method: The air fryer is a great way to cook the fish for these halibut tacos.
  • Toppings: These deep fried tacos can be served with shredded cabbage, avocado, cilantro, coleslaw and chopped tomatoes.
