Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and sugar until creamy.
Add the eggs and vanilla and beat to combine.
Crush half the Oreos into a fine crumb, then break the remaining cookies into small pieces.
Add the crushed Oreos and the chocolate chips to the cookie dough and stir to combine.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour.
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Use a cookie scoop to scoop balls of dough. Place the dough on the lined baking sheet and press the ball down slightly. Top the cookie with two to three pieces of broken Oreo cookies.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are just beginning to brown. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
Christina's Notes
Chocolate Chips: Use whatever types of chocolate chips you'd like such as mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, dark chocolate, or milk chocolate.
Oreos: Feel free to use any flavor of oreos that you'd like, for example you could use golden, peanut butter, or mint chocolate oreos.
Oreo Stuffed: Make oreos stuffed chocolate chip cookies, by pressing a layer of cookie dough then an oreo topped with another layer of cookie dough to cover it completely, then bake as usual.
Keep Fresh: Store cookies in an airtight container along with a slice of bread to ensure the cookies will stay fresh for days.
Large Cookies: If you would like to bake larger cookies, use a large cookie scoop and bake for 3-5 minute longer.
