Expert Tips for Making Creamed Spinach
- Use a different type of meat: If you are a chicken lover use in substitute for red meat. It is a healthier option and super simple to make.
- Use frozen spinach: Frozen spinach is a great alternative, especially if you’re on a budget. Cook the spinach in the microwave for 4-5 minutes or until just thawed. Transfer spinach to a colander lined with cheesecloth or a clean dish towel and squeeze as much water as possible out of the spinach.
- Freeze Creamed spinach: When the creamed spinach has cooled completely, store it in an airtight freezer-safe plastic bag or container for up to 3 months. Keep in mind that the texture will change slightly and become more liquified.
- Reheat Gently: Reheating gently is crucial so that the cream doesn’t split. Let spinach thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in a saucepan over low heat until warmed through. Microwaving in increments is okay for smaller quantities.
