Prep Ahead Suggestions for Cornbread Casserole Recipe

Preparing cornbread casserole recipes ahead of time can be the best way to go. Make a recipe in advance to be able to enjoy it whenever.

  • Corn: Drain the whole kernel corn ahead of time and store in an airtight container.
  • Mix Ingredients Ahead: You can combine all the ingredients (except for the baking powder if you are using a mix that contains it) and store them in the baking dish covered in the refrigerator. Just be sure to bring it to room temperature before baking and add the baking powder right before it goes in the oven. The batter will thicken overnight.
  • Bake ahead of time: The casserole can be baked and cooled completely, then stored in the refrigerator.

Alternate Cooking Methods for Corn Pudding

This easy side dish recipe is best in the oven, but there are a couple ways to switch it up.

  • Slow Cooker: Pour the batter into a greased slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • Air Fryer: You can make individual portions in oven-safe ramekins. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  • Store: Store easy and delicious leftovers in an airtight container, or covered tightly with plastic wrap, in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • Reheat: Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 1-2 minutes. You can also reheat in the oven if you want to warm the whole casserole. Set the oven to 350°F and heat for about 15 minutes.
  • Use Leftovers: Leftover jiffy cornbread casserole is excellent as a side dish for chili, pulled pork, or barbecued meats. It can also be a standalone meal.
