Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff HERO

For me nothing says comfort food like those classic recipes that I grew up knowing. Beef Stroganoff is one of those recipes. There is just something so familiar about the flavor of tender beef in rich gravy. It is truly food for the soul.

Hi! It’s Susanne from New South Charm back with another great recipe. Today I’m sharing a slow cooker version of this classic recipe. Slow cooking brings out the natural flavor of the meat. The slow process also makes beef tips so tender you’ll swear they melt in your mouth.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff CONTENT

For this recipe you will need two pounds of stew meat. I usually try to buy it on sale and freeze it. Buying meat on sale and freezing it is a great way to save money. If you are planning to use frozen meat as well you will need to thaw it at least the majority of the way through. This will make sure the beef is thoroughly cooked.

My favorite part of Beef Stroganoff is the gravy. I mean who doesn’t like gravy, right? This recipe makes the best gravy and all you need to do is open a few packages, add a cup of water and give it a quick stir. The slow cooker will do the rest of the work for you.

I like to serve the beef tips over egg noodles but I’ve served it over rice too. If you like egg noodles check out my recipe for Cowboy Goulash over at New South Charm.

Slow cookers are a great tool for busy days when you may not have time to cook. I also love to use mine in the summer time when turning on the stove or oven makes the house hot. Do you use your slow cooker more when the weather is cold or hot?

Do you use your slow cooker for busy days? If so what’s your favorite slow cooker recipe? Leave a comment below to let me know.
