This recipe was my son’s creation. He loves TruMoo chocolate milk (actually, we all do!) and wanted to incorporate it into his mug cake.
If you’ve never tried TruMoo hot, you don’t know what you’re missing. Try heating up a mug of TruMoo for simple and delicious hot chocolate. That’s what inspired him for this recipe.
This recipe is super simple to make. You start by adding the dry ingredients to the mug. Once you’ve added them all, give it a quick stir.
Then add the wet ingredients. Give it a final stir to make sure all of the ingredients are combined.
The last step is to pop it in the microwave. And, in under 2 minutes, you have a warm, delicious treat!
While this recipe is great for kids to make, an adult should remove the mug from the microwave as it can get pretty hot.
You’ll also want to make sure the cake has cooled a bit before you dive in — it’s hard, I know. Especially with all of the chocolately goodness just waiting to be devoured.

Ingredients
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons . granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon TruMoo chocolate milk
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
Instructions
- Add dry ingredients to a mug; stir to combine
- Stir in the TruMoo, vegetable oil and vanilla; continue stirring until mixture is combined and there are no lumps.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds. See note.
- Carefully remove from microwave (mug will be hot)
Expert Tips
Please note my microwave uses 1,100 watts. I cooked my cake at 100% power for the time mentioned in the recipe. Check your microwave wattage and adjust the cooking time as necessary. Be careful not to overcook the cake.
