How to Make Tomato Basil Rigatoni Pasta

These are the basic steps for making slow roasted tomato basil pasta. Refer to the full recipe card below for detailed instructions.

Preparing the tomatoes for roasting.

Step 1: Prep the Tomato and Basil Pasta

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Add the garlic, the fresh tomatoes, lemon juice, salt and pepper, and olive oil in a large 9×9 baking dish together. Stir to combine the ingredients well.

Step 2: Make the Pasta and Bake

Bake for 1 ½ hours. When the tomatoes get close to being done, bring a large pot of water to a boil on medium heat. Cook pasta noodles al dente or to your liking, and drain the pasta water well. Be careful not to overcook the pasta – you want to cook the pasta al dente.

Step 3: Add the Pasta to the Easy Tomato Basil Pasta

After draining the pasta cooking water, stir the pasta into the tomato mixture to coat well. Cook for one minute. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese and add fresh basil leaves before serving the pasta in homemade tomato sauce.
