Is there really any better combination than chocolate and peanut butter? I don’t think so. I’m a sucker for desserts with these two ingredients. When I came across this recipe it was a really a no-brainer. I had to make it. Just look at that photo…those layers of dark chocolately goodness, sandwiched between layers of peanut butter creaminess and clouds of whipped bliss.

Compliments of It’s a Keeper

Oreo Crust Layer
20 Oreo cookies, crushed into crumbs
2 Tbsp melted butter
Combine Oreos and butter.
Chocolate Ganache Layer
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup whipping cream
Bring the whipping cream to a boil. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate. Stir until thoroughly melted. Let cool slightly.
Peanut Butter Layer
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
4 oz. whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed
Cream peanut butter and cream cheese. Beat in powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in cool whip.
Once you have all of the components ready, start layering the parfait. Press about 1/4 cup of cookie mixture into the bottom of each glass. Spoon in a layer of peanut butter filling. Add a thin layer of chocolate ganache. As an added treat, I added crushed peanut butter cups next. Add another layer of peanut butter filling and chocolate ganache. Top with a layer of whipped topping and sprinkle crushed peanut butter cups on top for a garnish.
Is It a Keeper?
Duh! I mean, just look at that photo up there. Pure heaven and worth every single calorie! Yum, yum, yummity, yum! I don’t even know what else I can say about this recipe.
This recipe reminded me a lot of my signature Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie — the one I’m required requested to make for every family function.
These parfaits are quite rich, though, so don’t make them too big like I did. As much as I loved them, I had a hard time finishing it and had to stash it in the fridge (with a death threat taped to the glass if anyone so much as thought of touching it) for later.
Oh, and don’t forget to add the chopped up peanut butter cups! They’re not in the recipe above but they add a little somthin somethin to the parfait!
