Green Goddess Dressing

Green Goddess salad dressing is one of those classic, fancy dressings that you might find at a very upscale hotel or country club.  But don’t let it fool you.  It’s super easy to make at home.

Like so many things, Green Goddess dressing is one of those recipes that go in and out of fashion since it’s creation in the 1920’s. Nothing says Spring like the incredible fresh taste of this homemade salad dressing because of all the fresh ingredients.

What Is Green Goddess Dressing?

Green Goddess Salad Dressing is a creamy dressing that gets its bright green color from fresh herbs. It’s a versatile dressing that can be used on salads or sandwiches or as a dip.
The dressing originated in California where fresh herbs are abundant all year long. In my opinion Green Goddess Salad Dressing is a cross between a ranch dressing and a Caesar dressing with lots of fresh herbs in the mix.

How to Make Green Goddess Dressing – Step by Step

The blender or food processor does all the work so this healthy salad dressing recipe comes together quick and easy!

  • Step One: First, measure out all your ingredients. (Photo 1 below)
  • Step Two: Next, place the clean washed basil in the food processor. (Photo 2 below)
  • Step Three: Next, place the House Seasoning Blend and all the remaining ingredients into the Food Processor. Then Process until smooth. Finally, store in an air tight container.(Photo 3 below)

Recommendations for Making Greek Goddess Dressing

Green Goddess Salad Dressing is a cinch to make at home. Because there are only a few simple ingredients. Since it’s a creamy dressing, this recipe starts with plain Green yogurt and mayo. To this, you add flavor boosters like fresh shallot, a touch of anchovy paste (there’s no fishy flavor…trust me on this one) and Dijon mustard. Then you add lots of basil and some prepared pesto to really boost the herb flavor. Last, you add a bit of white wine vinegar and a touch of agave for sweetness.

Can white wine be sub for white wine vinegar?

It wouldn’t have the bite that the vinegar gives. I would sub a white vinegar instead.
