  1. A little too salty for me, I would cut the salt back to 2 teaspoons at most. I am sure if you get the right balance, it would be a bery nice steak seasoning.

I figured you wouldn’t run my Too Salty review; but you read it, so it’s all good. No one in their right mind would sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of salt on a 1 lb. freshly grilled piece of meat, so how does this much salt in a rub make sense?
For instance, your smoked turkey rub has 875 mg of salt for 2 birds; not the more than 12,000 mg. of this concoction. People eating it might stroke out from hypertension.

    • Jim, she did mention you could omit the salt, if you wish:
“Can I Make this Recipe Salt Free?
      Yes; just omit the salt.”
ALL recipes should be adapted to your liking.
Note: I am told many steakhouses secretly season steaks with just salt, usually a bit more salt than we would use.

i left out only the turmeric and corn starch. and it almost ruined a grilled tenderloin steak by being gaggingly salty. i was able to save the steak by washing it off with Worcestershire.

now that i think about it, are we sure we should be putting in over 2 T. (6 tsp) of salt ? that makes salt a majority of the whole recipe.

    • A lot of over the counter steak seasoning use even more, almost double the amount we use in this recipe. It could have been the amount you used for each steak or it could be that you just like less salt which is why making your own is such a great idea.

      • A fair reply. I look forward to trying it again with the kind of percentage of salt that’s in this site’s turkey rub. Salt is a savor that I Iove but have decided to minimize in the interest of health. So, I try to add just enough for it to do it’s job, but add very little taste of it’s own.

Looking forward to turkey time to try the rub.
