How Do I Get The Candies to Stick?

A group of the finished cookies on snow flakes.

To get the candies to stick, use frosting! Frosting will act almost as glue when you’re “gluing” on your candies for the eyes and nose.

Ingredient Notes for Christmas Gingerbread

Cookies and frosting.

Kids love Santa and his reindeer but sometimes you do not have time to stop and grab the bowls, flour, ginger, egg and granulated sugar. Here we turn gingerbread cookies into an adorable treat.

  • Reindeer Antlers: You’re probably not going to find these cupcake toppers anywhere in store, but they’re available to order on Amazon. They also have candy molds to make edible antlers.

See the recipe card below for a complete list of the ingredients with measurements.

Variations and Substitutions for the Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cookies

  • Toppers: To make edible antlers, pipe melting chocolate onto parchment paper/wax paper and allow to set.
  • Eyes: Instead of candies, use black icing to make black dots for eyes. Or you could use chocolate chips for the Gingerbread Reindeer Cookies.
  • Upside Down Gingerbread Man Reindeer: Your cookies can either be disks or you can flip gingerbread men upside down, they will look like reindeer! Grab a gingerbread man cookie cutter and cut out your cookies. Flip them so their heads are at the bottom. The gingerbread man’s legs will act as the antlers, the arms will be the ears and the body and head will be the reindeer’s face.

These cute reindeer gingerbread cookies come together in just 3 simple steps.

To make the faces, scoop frosting into piping bags and make small dots of frosting where the eyes and nose will be. Then, place eyes and m&m nose on the frosting dot.

STEP 3: Sandwich

To make the sandwich part, pipe frosting over entire backside of the cookies and put the face cookie on top of the frosting. To finish, place the antlers in between the layers.
