Notes about Moonshine Ingredients

It’s easy to make peach cobbler moonshine is made with a few simple ingredients. The main liquid is white grape peach concentrate juice. It’s easy to find at most supermarkets.

  • White Grape Peach Juice: Any type of peach concentrate or flavored juice will work.
  • Peaches: The recipe called for canned peaches in heavy syrup. You can use fresh or frozen peaches too. If you do, just add some peach nectar to replace the syrup from the canned peaches. I wouldn’t use dried peaches, though.
  • Granulated Sugar: White Sugar is what I used but brown sugar is also fine.
  • Cinnamon Sticks: This just adds a warm flavor to this easy recipe.
  • Grain Alcohol: I used 190 proof grain alcohol, 151 can also be used if 190 proof is not available.
  • Peach Schnapps: Use a bottle of peach schnapps or brandy, the best you can find.

How to Make Peach Moonshine

These are the basic steps for making Peach Moonshine. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions. Please note that this is not a still-made moonshine.

This is more of a moonshine cocktail. To create your own moonshine with a still, please refer to this website.

STEP 1: Cook

First, in a large pot, bring white grape juice, peaches with syrup, sugar, and cinnamon sticks to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.

STEP 2: Cool

Then remove from stove and allow mixture to cool and then add the peach schnapps and grain alcohol.

**CAUTION: Do not add alcohol near a flame or heat source. It is highly flammable. Next make sure mixture is completely cooled before adding alcohol.Stir well, then pour through a strainer layered with a cheesecloth to strain out the peaches and any pieces of the cinnamon sticks.

STEP 3: Jar

Finally, divide peaches and cinnamon sticks evenly between the jars. Ladle moonshine into clean mason jars, leaving a 1/2 inch head. Place lids on jars and let the moonshine sit in a cool, dry, dark place for 8 weeks before enjoying.

There is need to can this moonshine. The alcohol level is high and it doesn’t require canning to be shelf stable.

Prep and Storage Tips

Expert Tips for Making This DIY Moonshine Recipe

  • This Recipe Can be Doubled: Great recipe for a crowd.  Simply increase the ingredients proportionately and split it into jars.
  • Add Less Cinnamon: Not a fan of cinnamon, there is no need to add the cinnamon sticks to the mixture if you want just the peach flavor.
  • Alcohol Content: It is difficult to calculate the alcohol in moonshine as it depends on the brands that you utilize. However, for general purposes it is about 35 proof with an ABV of around 17 percent. (This is just an estimate only, please do not come at me in the comments)

After bottling my peach moonshine I found a couple cans of peaches in my pantry. What do you think about dividing up drained peaches in my already prepared jars? Too late? Next time I make this recipe I’m going to definitely add more peaches to the jars.
    Thanks

  5. Hi. Are you putting new fresh cinnamon sticks in the jars. Are you putting fresh peach slices in the jar or canned peach slices? If so how much of each?

    Reply
    • No, you are to divide the cinnamon sticks and peaches from the mixture evenly between the jars. The number of jars will depend on what size jars you use.

    • My apologies…when I transferred my recipe over it formatted incorrectly. Everything is correct now. It was 2 15oz cans.

  6. Hi, I made your recipe, and it is very taste full. Have you tried reducing the juice to only one 64 0nce bottle? To me it taste a little light, but might just be the sugar tricking me. I drank a few swigs, and I have that little feeling above my eyes. Next time I will reduce it, and use only 1 64 once, and let you know how it comes out. Does taste really good, though. I would just like to be able to taste the alcohol a little more.

  7. Is there a certain way to store it or is it as easy as clamping on lids and leaving them to ferment for a while?

  8. Is there any dangers to be aware of when making this? Also is there any dangers about storing it to go bad. Ive hard that if you do it wrong it can become poisonous or make you go blind.

    • Let the mixture completely cool before adding the alcohol. Do NOT add it while it’s on the stove. The alcohol is highly flammable. You aren’t actually making moonshine (like in a still). It’s just a fun name for the cocktail. I have never heard it becoming poisonous or making anyone blind, but it is VERY strong, so drink responsibly.
