What We Love About This Best Hot Cocoa Balls Recipe

This is the perfect cold day treat that will put smiles on everyone’s faces, it is warm, creamy, delicious, smooth and fun. Honestly, who could ask for anything more. So go outside build a snowman and then enjoy your special hot chocolate.

Ingredient Notes

  • Candy Melts: Pickup chocolate or use any flavor that you like.
  • Hot Cocoa Powder w/ miniature marshmallows: These usually have nonfat dry milk so be careful if you are lactose intolerant.

  • Crush Cookies- Place the cookies in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin.

How to Make Cocoa Balls Recipe

These are the basic steps for making hot cocoa balls. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions for daily value and daily diet nutrient information.

STEP 1: INSTANT POT

First, place pot onto sauté mode. Next, add one and a half cups of water then place a glass bowl in to act as a double broiler. Second, add in your candy melts to the bowl and melted.

STEP 2: MOLDS

Lightly grease the inside of your silicone molds. Brush in chocolate to your molds making sure that chocolate. Place in the freezer five minutes. Then, add a half a tablespoon of cocoa powder, mini marshmallows and caramel to mold. Close mold by adding more of your melted chocolate on top of the marshmallows and lock in filing. Again, return to the freezer for 10 minutes.

STEP 3: DECORATE

Meanwhile, in a food processer, blend together your cookies. Finally, in another medium sized bowl, melt your almond bark chocolate in the Instant Pot as a double broiler. Drizzle your melted almond bark over the balls. Immediately sprinkle your oreo cookie crumbs before the chocolate hardens.

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces candy melts, chocolate
  • 7 tablespoons hot cocoa powder w/ miniature marshmallows
  • 8 ounces Almond Bark, blocks
  • 5 Oreo cookies

Instructions

  • Turn your instant pot onto sauté mode. Place one and a half cups of water inside your instant pot. Place a glass bowl that will fit in your instant pot as it will act as a double broiler.
  • Add in your candy melts to the bowl. Continue to mix until the chocolate has completely melted.
  • Lightly grease the inside of your silicone molds. Add chocolate to your molds making sure that chocolate is completely coating the mold on the inside. Place in the freezer for about five minutes.
  • Remove your molds from the freezer. Add a half a tablespoon of cocoa powder and mini marshmallows per mold.
  • Add more of your melted chocolate on top of the marshmallows to close the mold and lock the cocoa and marshmallows from coming out. Return to the freezer for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove your cocoa balls by pushing on the silicone side of the mold until the bomb pops out.
  • In another medium sized bowl, melt your almond bark chocolate in the Instant Pot as a double broiler.
  • In a food processer, blend together your cookies.
