Step-By-Step Instructions to Make Caramel Pie
This pie is one of our favorite recipes. The filling is made with sweetened whipped cream, dulce de leche, and Milky Way candies, and the pie tastes amazing even without having to bake it.
These are the basic steps to make the caramel pie. Refer to the full, printable recipe card below for detailed instructions. This post may contain affiliate links.
1. Combine Caramel Filling Ingredients
Chop Milky Way candies into small pieces and reserve 1/4 cup. Whisk together Milky Way candy pieces and dulce de leche in a large mixing bowl with the whipped topping to thicken it.
2. Fill the Pie Crust
Pour filling into the pie crust with the back of a spoon and top with whipped topping. After you pour it into the prepared crust, sprinkle reserved Milky Way bits on top and refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours to allow filling to firm. Remove the pie from the fridge and transfer to a pie plate when ready to serve.
How to Store and Use Leftover Caramel Cream Pie
- Storing: Cover in plastic wrap and store the pie in the fridge for 1-2 days.
- Freeze: Make the pie in advance, freeze, and remove pie to thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
- Using Leftovers: Leftover pie can make a great dessert or easy snack.
Variations and Substitutions for this No Bake Pie Recipe
- Ganache: Add a layer of chocolate ganache to the bottom of the crust before pouring in the caramel filling.
- Whipped Cream: Instead of a storebought whipped topping, you can make fresh whipped cream using heavy whipping cream.
