For truly exceptional Korean BBQ wings, double-fry (or double-cook) them. This technique is the secret to achieving that perfect balance of crispy skin and juicy meat.

How to Make Crispy Korean BBQ Chicken Wings

This recipe recipe yields delicious wings and comes together in just 3 easy to follow steps. These miso glazed wings are so easy and delicious, you’ll make them every time you have a get together.

These are the basic steps for making Korean BBQ Wings. Refer to the full, printable recipe card below for detailed instructions.

1. Preheat the Oven and Bake Wings

Preheat oven to 400 ℉, and line a baking sheet with foil and place a baking rack on top.

Season both sides of the wings with All Purpose Seasoning. Spread the wings in a single layer on the baking rack on top of the foil. Bake for 35-45 minutes.

2. Make the Korean BBQ Sauce

While the wings are baking, heat the vegetable oil in a sauce pan. Add ginger to the oil and sauté for 2 minutes.

Add sherry, vinegar, sesame oil, honey, soy sauce and chili garlic sauce to the pan and whisk to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let bubble for 5 minutes.

3. Baste the Wings

Remove ½ cup of the sauce from the pan to use for basting during the last 5 minutes of baking. Remove the wings from the oven and toss wings in the remaining sauce until wings are coated.

How to Store, Reheat and Use Leftover BBQ Korean Chicken Wings

  • Storing: Store any leftover spicy flavor fried chicken wings in a zip top bag or airtight container in the refrigerator. They will be good for up to five days.
  • Reheating: Korean restaurant copycat wings are perfect reheated in the oven or toaster oven. Add wings to oven at 350 on a foil lined baking sheet and baste the wings with additional sauce.
  • Using Leftovers: I like to pair leftover wings with Crock Pot Buffalo Wing Dip. You can also use ranch to pair.

Variations and Substitutions for Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken Wings

These crispy chicken wings are something easy to customize! Try taking the sticky Korean BBQ sauce to the next level by trying different flavors.

  • Sweetness: Honey, maple syrup and brown sugar are all classic choices for some added sweetness when you make the recipe.
  • Fruit: Apricot, peach, or plum preserves can add a delicious fruity twist.
  • Fish Sauce: Use this pungent ingredient sparingly to add umami.
  • Green Onions: Use for garnish and a fresh bite. Make sure to sauce before garnishing.
