While deviled eggs date back to ancient Rome, they get their name from the 19th century, when “deviled” was used to refer to food that was heavily seasoned with spices.

1. Prep and Cut Eggs in Half Lengthwise

First, you will need to hard boiled your eggs before hand. When they have cooled, peel the eggs. Then, slice them in half lengthwise. Then, separate the egg whites and yolks using a teaspoon and reserve them in a medium mixing bowl.

2. Cook the Shrimp

In a skillet, add olive oil and spread the shrimp into an even layer. Sautee, alternating sides until pink. Set aside and allow to cool, then chop the shrimp.

3. Make Deviled Egg Filling

Once the shrimp are done, make the filling mixture. Place mashed yolks in a small bowl with chopped shrimp and mix, along with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and seafood seasoning or Cajun seasoning. Stir the egg mixture with a fork or small spoon until well incorporated or use a food processor to blend the shrimp into the egg mixture for a smoother consistency.

4. Assemble the Best Deviled Eggs

Spoon the yolk mixture into the egg white halves and garnish with parsley, then place the eggs in a single layer on a serving platter. Cover the eggs and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
