Ingredient Notes for Jack Daniel bbq Sauce

  • Onion: For this recipe you will need about 1/4 cup of minced white onion, you ca also you yellow onion.
  • Garlic: You will 4-5 cloves of fresh garlic, you can also use garlic powder but the flavor won’t be as good as using fresh.
  • Whisky: You will need whisky, I used Jack Daniels but any brand will work just as well.
  • Ketchup: You will ketchup, you can use your favorite brand.
  • Brown Sugar: For this, it best to use brown sugar but if you only have white sugar you can use that along with some molasses.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: You will need apple cider vinegar.
  • Tomato Paste: You can use tomato paste in a can or in a tube.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: For this Jack Daniels bbq sauce recipe, you will need Worcestershire sauce.
  • Liquid Smoke: Any type of liquid smoke will work. You can also supplement the smokey taste by using smoked paprika if you do not have liquid smoke.
  • Hot Sauce: You can use any hot sauce of your choice or if you don’t want the added heat, just omit the hot sauce.

How to Make Whiskey Barbeque Sauce

These are the basic steps for making Whiskey Barbeque Sauce. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.

STEP 1: MAKE THE WHISKY BASE

In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the whiskey long with the minced onion and garlic. Let simmer for 7-10 minutes or until the onions are translucent.

STEP 2: ADD THE REST OF INGREDIENTS

Once onions are translucent, stir in the ketchup, vinegar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium-low heat and let simmer for about 15 minutes.

STEP 3: BLEND MIXTURE

To finish off this Jack Daniels bbq sauce, use an immersion blender or food processor and blend until the mixture is smooth. Serve immediately or let cool and store in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup minced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup whisky
  • 2 cups ketchup

  • cup apple cider vinegar
