How to Make BBQ Wings

STEP 1: PREP

First, preheat oven to 425F and then line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Second, place 1 Tablespoon of oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat and next pat the chicken wings dry with paper towel and add in batches to the skillet.

STEP 2: SEAR/BAKE

Next, pan sear the chicken wings on each side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Repeat with remainder. Then place the chicken wings on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 15-20 minutes, until an inserted meat thermometer reaches and internal temperature of 165F.

STEP 3: SAUCE

Meanwhile, combine tomato paste and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk until combined and then add remaining ingredients, except for the butter. Bring mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low for 2 more minutes.

Finally, remove from heat and whisk in butter. And then toss in a large bowl and coat the wings in the sauce. Serve.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 Tablespoons oil, as needed
  • Sauce Ingredients:
  • 6 ounces Tomato Paste
  • ½ cup Water, as needed
  • 3 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • ½ Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons butter

Instructions
