  • Mandarins: For best results you need 5-6 mandarin oranges. Each one should yield about 9-12 slices varying on size. You can also use any other type of orange that you would like.
  • Chocolate: For this recipe you will need semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, you can also make milk chocolate oranges. Chocolate Melts or chocolate coating work well, too.
  • Coconut Oil: To make the chocolate melt evenly and easier to work with while dipping oranges, you will need a bit of chocolate oil.
  • Sea Salt: For an optional garnish, you can top will flakey sea salt.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Oranges

These are the basic steps for making Chocolate Covered Oranges. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.

Peeling the oranges.

STEP 1: PEEL ORANGES

Start by lining a cookie sheet with a piece of parchment paper and peel the mandarin oranges and pull apart each slice from one another.

STEP 2: MELT CHOCOLATE

In a medium bowl is that microwave safe, melt the chocolate chips along with a teaspoon of coconut oil for 30 second increments, stirring in-between, until fully melted.

STEP 3: DIP ORANGES IN CHOCOLATE

Dip each orange piece in chocolate halfway and allow the excess chocolate to drip off, then transfer dark chocolate oranges to the cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Once you have covered all the slices in chocolate, top with a little sprinkle of sea salt.

STEP 4: LET CHOCOLATE COVERED ORANGES SET

Transfer the cookie sheet full of chocolate oranges to the fridge for 20-30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. Once chocolate has harden, serve and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 5-6 mandarin oranges, peeled & sectioned
  • ½ cup semi sweet or dark chocolate chips
