My Yogurt Parfait with Fruit and Granola is one of my favorite wholesome breakfasts or snacks. It’s great for on-the-go mornings, meal prepping or for a feel-good treat.

I love serving fresh fruit with meals. It is so light and refreshing. If not making this parfait I will make my Lime Honey Fruit Salad and my Ambrosia Fruit Salad with Cool Whip.

A glass filled with layers of granola, yogurt, diced strawberries, and topped with blueberries creates a delightful Yogurt Parfait, placed on a napkin with a strawberry print.

Why this Yogurt Parfait Recipe is a Keeper

I love this homemade yogurt parfait recipe because it’s an easy meal to bring on-the-go. Even the kids love it because of all the bright sweet fruit.

  • The Texture Contrast: You get the creamy silkiness of the yogurt, the juicy burst of fresh fruit, and the satisfying crunch of granola in every bite.
  • Zero Cooking Required: A Greek yogurt parfait is an assembly job, not a culinary marathon.
  • Nutritional Powerhouse: It hits all the major marks: protein from the yogurt, fiber from the fruit, and healthy fats from the granola/nuts. You can even use dairy-free yogurt.

How Do I Keep the Granola from Getting Soggy in my Yogurt Parfaits?

A glass filled with layers of granola, strawberries, and blueberries creates a delicious dessert.

The best way to keep granola crunchy in homemade yogurt parfaits is to refrigerate the parfait and add it right before eating. If you’re meal prepping, you may find it better to omit the granola layers and just stir in some right before enjoying.

Pro Tip – Layering

Most people assemble parfaits fully in advance, but that’s how you end up with soggy granola and fruit that bleeds into the yogurt. Layer contrasting textures right before serving so every bite stays crisp, creamy, and fresh.

Ingredient Notes for this Healthy Breakfast Recipe

You only need a few easy-to-find ingredients to make a parfait with Greek yogurt; many of which you probably have in your pantry already. You will find the nutrition facts for this protein-packed healthy dessert below.

Bowls of sliced strawberries, pineapple chunks, blueberries, granola, and yogurt arranged on a white surface invite you to create your own Yogurt Parfait, with two empty glass jars ready for layering.
  • Fresh Berries: Use fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries and fresh pineapple for the best flavor and texture. You can use your favorite fruit.
  • Granola: Both homemade granola or crunchy granola from the store will work.
  • Yogurt: Feel free to use your favorite flavor and brand. You could even use homemade yogurt. I like to use a full-fat vanilla yogurt but plain yogurt that you sweeten with the fruit is great too.

Variations and Substitutions to Make Yogurt Parfaits (Nutrition Facts Might Change)

There are a couple different swaps you can make to make a simple fruit and yogurt parfait extra delicious.

  • The Yogurt Base: Swap regular yogurt for Skyr (thicker and higher protein), coconut yogurt (for a vegan twist), or lemon-flavored yogurt for a zesty kick. It’s even good with creamy vanilla yogurt or plain Greek yogurt.
  • The Crunch: If you’re out of granola, use toasted oats, crushed pecans, pumpkin seeds, or even crumbled graham crackers. Toast some nuts until golden brown and fragrant or toast some coconut.
  • Add Sweetener: Instead of a sugar-filled yogurt, try a drizzle of honey, maple syrup, agave or a swirl of almond butter on top of the yogurt.
  • Tropical Twist: Use mango, pineapple, and shredded coconut with lime zest.
  • Other Fruit: Use any combination of berries and fruits like blackberries, raspberries, bananas or melon. Make the yogurt parfait by using different fruits on each layer then repeat the layers.

Special Equipment Needed for Greek Yogurt Parfaits

This recipe doesn’t require anything fancy, but one thing can make it easier and look more appealing.

  • Mason Jars or Cup (Wide Mouth): These glass jars are the gold standard for parfaits. They are great for grab-and-go, airtight, and show off the beautiful layers.
  • Long-Handled Spoon: Essential if you’re eating out of a deep jar so you can get all three layers in one go.

Make Ahead Suggestions for Fruit Yogurt Parfaits

This fruit yogurt parfait recipe is already really easy, but there’s strategies to meal prep this breakfast parfait.

  • The Layering Strategy: If prepping for the week, put the yogurt at the bottom, the fruit in the middle, and leave a gap at the top to add granola when you’re ready to eat. You can keep refrigerated up to 3 days in advance.
  • Batch Prepping: You can wash and chop all your fruit on Sunday, or a few days in advance. Blueberries and strawberries hold up well, but avoid slicing bananas or peaches until the day of, as they brown quickly.

Alternate Assembly Methods for Breakfast Yogurt Parfait

Make this granola and yogurt recipe another way by turning it into a bowl or freezing it into breakable bark.

  • The Parfait Bowl: If you aren’t on the go, spread the yogurt in a wide, shallow bowl. This allows for more surface area for toppings (meaning more crunch in every bite).
  • Frozen Parfait Bark: Spread the yogurt on a baking sheet, top with fruit and granola, and freeze. Break it into shards for a cold summer snack.

How to Store and Use Leftovers

  • Storing: Store remaining yogurt and berries in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Beyond that, the fruit starts to bleed into the yogurt.
  • Using Leftovers: If the granola got soggy, don’t toss it! Throw the whole thing into a blender with a splash of whole milk for a granola smoothie.

Common Questions About This Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits

Can I Use Frozen Fruit?

Sure, use fresh or frozen berries to make this delicious breakfast option. But the frozen fruit will make the parfait watery. Also, some fruits will turn brown so be careful in what you select.

Why Is my Yogurt “Bleeding” or Separating?

If your yogurt is bleeding or separating, there was too much moisture added or they got too soft and the juice started to mix. Like listed above, frozen fruit, or fruit with high water content will cause bleeding and separation.

Two glass cups filled with layers of granola, creamy yogurt, strawberries, and blueberries sit on a strawberry-patterned napkin next to two spoons, creating an inviting Yogurt Parfait display.

Expert Tips for Making the Crunchy Berry Parfait

  • The “Double Straining” Secret: For an ultra-thick, decadent parfait that feels like cheesecake, strain your Greek yogurt through cheesecloth for an extra hour to remove even more whey.
  • Toast Your Toppings: Even store-bought granola tastes 10x better if you toss it in a dry pan for 2 minutes to wake up the oils in the nuts and seeds.
  • Season Your Fruit: Toss your berries in a tiny bit of lemon juice and vanilla extract before layering. It makes the fruit taste “fresher” and prevents oxidation.
  • The Salt Factor: Add a tiny pinch of salt to your granola or even a swirl of salted peanut butter to balance the sweetness of the fruit.
  • Serve this Fruit Yogurt Parfait With: Serve with Orange Greek Yogurt Muffins or Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bars.
