Does this Burger Just Have Ground Beef?

This Asian burger recipe is made with both beef and ground pork. However, if you’d prefer not to use pork, you can substitute the same amount of beef.

Ingredient Notes for Asian Inspired Burgers

  • Ground Beef: 80-20% ground beef is typically recommended for a good burger, but you can use leaner meat if you’d prefer.
  • Fresh Ginger: Finely shred fresh ginger and mix it into the ground meat.

See the recipe card below for a complete list of the ingredients with measurements.

Variations and Substitutions for Asian Style Burgers

  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce: Use a low sodium soy sauce variant for a healthier option.
  • Ground Meat: You can substitute ground turkey for a lean ground meat option.
  • Kimchi: Instead of slaw, you can top the burger with kimchi.
  • Spicy Mayo: Instead of the Thai chili sauce, you can top the burgers with different savory condiments. Try sriracha mayo, chili garlic sauce, hoisin sauce, or even Japanese barbecue sauce.

Special Equipment Needed for Asian Burgers with Slaw

  • Burger Press: Easily form juicy burgers with a burger press.

Asian Burger Pro Tip

Sear the patties over high heat to lock in the juices. Lower the heat to medium for even cooking throughout.

How Do I Store these Burgers?

Store leftover burger patties in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven.

What Temperature Should I Cook the Burgers To?

Your burgers should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. Use a meat thermometer to check.

You can make thick or thin patties. With thin patties, you can layer toppings in between two of them, or have one thick patty instead.
