How to Make Hot Honey Chicken

These are the basic steps for making Hot Honey Chicken Tenders. Please refer to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.

Making the coating for the meat,

STEP 1: PREPPING

Start by preheating the oven to 450 degrees f and cut the chicken breasts into thinner filets. Season each piece of chicken with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt & pepper, onion powder, and BBQ seasoning.

STEP 2: MAKE THE COATING

In a shallow bowl, combine flour and bbq seasoning, whisk until combined. Then coat each piece of chicken fully in the flour mixture.

STEP 3: COOK THE CHICKEN

Add oil to the skillet and once it is heated up then add your chicken tenders, cook for 3-4 minutes on each side over medium high heat. Transfer the skillet to the oven to finish cooking the chicken, bake for about 8-10 minutes.

STEP 4: REMOVE CHICKEN

Take the chicken out of the oven and use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is fully cooked, the internal temperature should be 165 degrees f. Drizzle chicken with hot honey glaze and serve immediately.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil, or more as needed
  • 2 Chicken breasts, approximately 1½ pounds
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot BBQ Seasoning, or Chili Seasoning, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper, divided
  • ¼ cup Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot honey, or more as needed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450℉.
  • Place a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cut your chicken breasts through the middle to create 4 thinner chicken filets. Season each chicken filet with ½ teaspoon BBQ seasoning, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • In a shallow dish, combine flour with remaining BBQ seasoning.
  • Dredge the chicken filets in the seasoned flour mixture until completely coated.
  • Place the oil in the preheated skillet and once oil is hot, add the chicken filets.
  • Brown the chicken on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Place skillet in the oven to finish cooking, about 8-10 minutes until an inserted meat thermometer reads 165℉.
  • Immediately after the chicken is removed from the oven, drizzle with the hot honey.
