How Do I Keep the Sliders from Getting Soggy?

Three mini sandwiches with visible layers of shredded chicken, cheese, and a crunchy topping are placed on a white plate with a blue and white napkin, next to a drink and a bowl of dipping sauce.

If you follow the recipe and put a slice of cheese under the chicken and on top of the marinara, it will protect the slider rolls. If the marinara is on the top or the bottom and is touching the bun too much it will cause the buns to get soggy.

Ingredient Notes for Chicken Parmesan Sliders

You will only need 9 super easy ingredients to make chicken parm recipes. You may already have some of these ingredients laying around your kitchen but you may also need to go to the store and grab a couple things.

  • Hawaiian Rolls: I love using Hawaiian rolls for these, but you can use whatever sandwich rolls or buns that you like.
  • Chicken Tenders: You will want to cook your chicken tenders ahead of time, that way they’re ready to be shredded.
  • Marinara Sauce: Marinara works best for this recipe. However, if in a pinch, you can use spaghetti sauce.

See the recipe card below for a complete list of the ingredients with measurements.

Variations and Substitutions to Make Chicken Parmesan Sliders

There’s a few easy ways to customize these homemade chicken dinner rolls. They’re easy to change up by simply mixing up the meat or cheese!

  • Jar Sauce: Instead of using a jar of marinara, like we are in this recipe, you can easily make your own!
  • Different Cheeses: Try this recipe with shredded parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese or a blend of mozzarella and parmesan.
  • Crispy Chicken Tenders: Instead of frozen chicken tenders or crispy chicken strips, try making this recipe using shredded rotisserie chicken, chicken nuggets or chicken patties.

Pro Tip

Line your baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Bake the sliders until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the buns are golden brown.

How to Make Easy Chicken Parmesan Sliders

Cheesy chicken parmesan sliders are made in just 3 simple steps. This recipe is super easy to follow; making these is a breeze!

These are the basic steps for making Chicken Parm Sliders. Refer to the full, printable recipe card below for detailed instructions.

A four-step image process shows assembling Chicken Parm Sliders: starting with a slice of bread, adding cheese slices, placing pieces of fried chicken, and topping with more cheese slices.

1. Preheat Oven and Prep Dish

Preheat the oven to 350° and grab a 9×13 baking dish and set aside. Cook your breaded chicken tenders according to the package.

Using a knife, cut the entire thing of hawaiian sweet rolls in half. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in the baking dish and set the top of the rolls aside.

2. Assemble the Sandwiches

Add 6 slices of provolone cheese to the bottom half. Lightly shred the precooked chicken tenders with your hands and place the chicken tenders on top of the cheese. Layer the marinara and 6 more slices of provolone cheese on top. Top with the top buns.

3. Make Garlic Butter and Bake

In a small bowl, melt the butter. Mix together the melted butter, salt, garlic and grated parmesan. Brush the tops of the buns with the butter mixture.

Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven and slice and serve!

Recipe FAQs to Make the Best Chicken Parm Slider

How to Store?

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

What is the Best Way to Reheat?

I like to reheat mine either in the oven at 350 until they’re warm or in the microwave heating in 1 minute intervals. If you’re using the oven, line your pan with foil and bake.

Why Are my Sliders Falling Apart?

Your sliders could be falling apart because you didn’t put both layers of cheese on, or the cheese didn’t melt. The cheese will act as “glue” to keep your slider together.

Can I Use Breaded Chicken?

Yes! Breaded chicken will give you more flavor than just grilled chicken breasts.
