This 7 Layer Taco dip screams for a glass bowl or serving dish. There is just something so pleasing and appetizing about seeing all the beautiful layers of this Mexican inspired dip.

What is 7 Layer Taco Dip?

What is in 7 layer taco dip? It’s seven layers of Mexican flavored deliciousness! The more you dig into this dip, the better it gets.

In this version the layers included are: seasoned green beef, guacamole, sour cream, olives, cheese, diced tomatoes, and refried beans.

How to Make 7 Layer Dip Recipe – Step by Step

  • Step One: First, in a large skillet brown ground beef add Taco Seasoning Blend and House Seasoning Blend then spread in dish. (Photo 1 below)
  • Step Two: Then in a separate bowl, microwave refried beans. (Photo 2 below)
  • Step Three: Next stir together the refried beans and the cream cheese together until combined. (Photo 3 below)

  • Step Four: Then spread the refried beans over the ground beef in the dish. (Photo 1 below)
  • Step Five: Combine house seasoning blend and taco seasoning with the sour cream and spread over the beans.  (Photo 2 below)
  • Step Six: Next, layer the guacamole onto the sour cream mixture.  (Photo 3 below)

Can you make 7 Layer Mexican Dip in advance?

The answer to this question is yes and no. This 7 Layer Mexican Dip can be refrigerated for a short time. It will start to bleed together and will not look as pretty after sitting for more than an hour or two.

You can however get all the components together and store them individually for a day or two and then assemble before the get together.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons Taco Seasoning Blend - divided
  • 2 teaspoons House Seasoning Blend - divided
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 16 ounces refried beans
  • 4 ounces cream cheese - softened
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 cups prepared guacamole
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 2 large tomatoes - diced
  • 6 ounces sliced black olives
  • Optional: Cilantro - green onions, jalapeños

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and drain excess fat.
  • Add 1 and 1/2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning Blend, House Seasoning Blend andwater to the cooked beef; Stir together.
  • Spread beef mixture evenly into a 9×13 casserole dish.
  • In a small, microwave safe bowl, microwave refried beans for 30 seconds.
  • Stir beans and cream cheese together and spread them on top of the beef layer.
  • In a separate bowl combine sour cream, remaining 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of Taco Seasoning Blend and remaining teaspoon of House Seasoning Blend.
  • Spread seasoned cheese mixture evenly on top of refried beans.
  • Spread prepared guacamole on top.
  • Top shredded Mexican cheese blend.
  • Add diced tomatoes.
  • Top with sliced black olives.
  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
