How to Make the Best Hamburger Seasoning
There is nothing like a big, juicy burger. But seasoning with just salt and pepper leaves much to be desired.
There are two ways to use this blend. First, you can mix it into the beef before forming the patties. I like to use about 1 tablespoon per pound of beef and mix it into the meat. Be careful that you’re not overworking the meat. That will leave your burgers dry and tough.
Another way to use this seasoning is to add it after making the hamburgers patties. Sprinkle about 14/ to 1/2 teaspoon on each side of the burgers before cooking.
These are the basic steps for making the Best Hamburger Seasoning. Refer to the full, printable recipe card below for detailed instructions.
Step 1: Combine Ingredients
First, in a mixing bowl, combine the salt, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, ground black pepper, dried basil, dried parsley, chili powder, onion powder and dry mustard. Then stir to mix until all ingredients are combined,
Step 2: Store
Finally, after everything is fully mixed together, add the blend into an airtight container or spice container and then store in your pantry.
Step 3: Making Burgers
Use one tablespoon of the best burger seasoning recipe per 1 pound of ground beef when making hamburgers. I like to season each side of a burger patty with this blend. Be sure to season the patty before cooking it.

Can’t believe you suggest one fourth cup of salt I used one table spoon, will try it tonight
Yeah, 1/4 cup of salt? I use Himalayan salt, always. I do not think I will use this recipe because of the amount of salt recommended in the recipe.
How much of this seasoning is used for a pound of ground beef?
As it says in the blog everything is adjustable. For a basic burger patty recipe, I add 1 tablespoon of this Burger Seasoning Blend to 1.5 pounds of ground beef. I mix it in and form my patties. If you are concerned about your salt intake, you can cut back several teaspoons salt.
loved our hamburgers today. this is a keeper!
You will love when grilling too! Thanks
Are you using table salt or kosher salt?
Table salt might account for the ‘too salty’ comments.
Just made sliders with this recipe as a trial run and true to the site name, It Is A Keeper! 🙂
I did break the 2 T of paprika into 1 T each of regular and smoked paprika, as well as dropped the salt to 2 t based on some reviews here and other burger seasoning recipes I’ve come across.
Added 2 T of the seasoning to the beef and formed the sliders. Can’t wait to make these for a crowd!
Made this today, smells wonderful! Question on the onion powder…is it 1 tbsp or should it be teaspoon. Only ask because the recipe starts with Tbsp, then to 1/2 tbsp, then to tsp… just curious. Thanks so much!
Love your burger seasoning blend, thanks!
Homemade is so much yummier and I had everything in hand to make this already!

This seasoning took my burgers to a whole new level! Highly recommend!
Good god that was too much salt
Seasoning is definitely to taste. You can adjust it however you like to meet your specifications. Try making it your way, that is why recipes are so nice, you have the control.
Why are some ingredients marked out !!???
Those are just links to buy in amazon. The ingredients are still what you will use.
I didn’t read any reviews but I cook a lot and I knew that was too much salt. I used only 2 tablespoons of pink Himalayan salt. I used smoked paprika and paprika. I added 1/2 of a tablespoon of Kinders Woodfire garlic as well and only 1 tsp of chili powder and I added 1 tsp of ground Chipotle pepper! My combination had so much flavor and it was super delicious.
Hardly a review
You should post your own recipe if you are such an expert
Hahahha awsome!
WAY too salty.
Thank you for your feedback I am always looking for ways to better my recipes!
I haven’t tried it yet, but to answer the question… Paragraph 3 states 1 tablespoon per 1.5 lbs of beef. Might solve the salt concentration issue,
thank you for your feedback!
