No, there is no need to can this recipe. Just make sure that your jars and lids are completely clean. Always make sure that the lids are applied tightly. The everclear alcohol keeps everything preserved.
Making this recipe ahead of time is a must as the alcohol needs time to mellow and the flavors have time to meld. Can you drink before the 8 weeks, yes, but it is not recommended. Make your favorite punch or coolers with the moonshine or simply add ice and club soda.

Is the 8 weeks to set required? I am trying to make this for the 4th of July.
Yes, if you use 190 proof grain alcohol as the recipe describes.
Don’t call it pineapple. Call it orange. Very similar to a dreamcicle one I’ve made minus the cream.
Do you use the entire bottle of everclear for this recipe?
Yes. 750L bottle.
When placing in jars do u leave the oranges in it?
I do not.
How moonshine can I use with the ingredients
When I made Apple Pie I used a one Mason jar of shine and one 750ml of vodka. Do you think the same could be done for this recipe but use rum instead of vodka? I don’t see why not. I’d have to double the other ingredients as well.
I dont’ see why not! Sounds delish!
Apple Pie Moonshine is best made with real Moonshine, but Everclear is about as close as you can legally buy. In TN, you can buy Moonshine in a Liquor store, but it is not as strong. Living in the area where Popcorn Sutton made his Shine meant a lot for me. May he rest in peace.
The recipe states to add shredded coconut but the amount isn’t listed in the ingredients. How much do you add? Sounds devine!
I removed the shredded coconut from the recipe. I just updated it for you.
So question… your recipe calls for 4oz of cream of coconut but then in the directions it shows coconut water and shredded coconut. Can you clear up that little bit of confusion please? Everclear is pricey so I want to make sure I get this right the first time! 🙂 THANK YOU!!!!!
It’s cream of coconut. The recipe has been updated. Enjoy!
What kind of orange juice do you use is there a specific kind so it does not go bad
Just regular orange juice. We prefer pulp free but any type will work.
Question about the mason jars. Did you push down to seal them before tightening the lids ? Or just put the lid on and tighten it ?
You can just put on the lid and tighten it.
Any one know how much shredded coconut goes in this? Also, in the ingredients list it has cream of coconut, and in the instructions it has coconut water, are they interchangeable, is that a simple mistake, or are both supposed to go into this? I just want to make it the right way. Thank you.
The recipe has been updated. The first I made it, I used the shredded coconut but didn’t like it so I removed it from the recipe. And, it’s cream of coconut, not coconut water. The recipe is now correct.
How many Mason jars does this recipe create?
It depends on the size of the jars. There are multiple sizes.
So I used the coconut cream. While it is in storage it almost seems to separate. If you mix it is fine. I opened it up and smells good. Have you seen this? I want to give as gifts but scared it will be gross. Please help.
Yes, it will separate. Just give it a good shake.
Could you use Coconut milk instead? And if I wanted to add some of the rum you suggested, how much would I add?
I have never tried coconut milk but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I would start with a cup of rum and taste it from there. YOu can add the rum after it settles for a few weeks.
I did use the like and it was almost chunky.
When do you add the pineapple syrup?
Add it when you add the Everclear. The recipe has been updated. Thanks 🙂
Is the calorie content for the whole recipe?
It’s per quart.
My gosh — all the flavors I love!! That would go down so easily that it would kick me in the rear before I knew it. I saving this for the summer months — I can see me on the patio sipping on it.
Oh man, I’ve never made my own moonshine before, but this sounds so delicious! And I love the color! Hurry up, summer <3
I love that this lasts for up to a year! Great recipe.
This sounds wonderful! A great way to serve cocktails for a party – definitely bookmarking and see several batches being made for the summer!
These are some of my favorite flavors combined! I’m new to moonshine… do you just drink it straight then or do you mix it with something before you drink it?
I can answer that, real Moonshine is extremely strong, but can be sipped straight if you have something to chase it with. Everclear is also strong. Another option in this recipe would be to use Bacardi 151 Rum.
You had me at pineapple! Yum! This sounds perfect for warmer weather and poolside fun! I had no idea you could store for a year!
All the tropical feels!! Perfect for the upcoming warmer weather season.
